Footwear Inspection in China

Compare selected footwear pairs with your approved size run, construction sample, upper and sole specifications, finish standards, labels and packing requirements.

Sneakers, leather shoes, sandals and boots can have different failure points. Tell us the model, factory address, completed pair quantities, size-colour breakdown and critical defects so scope, practical tools and inspector availability can be confirmed in advance.

Service role

Check footwear as a matched pair, not just a single product

Footwear quality inspection in China assesses selected accessible pairs against an approved sample, graded size chart, construction, colour and packaging specification. Left-right matching matters: a pair can contain individually good-looking shoes that differ in size, colour, shape, heel or material finish.

The buyer's reference should identify the style and colourway, shoe size system, construction method, upper, lining, insole and outsole materials or visual reference, hardware and accessories, size labels and retail packaging. Different types of footwear require different agreed checks.

An onsite inspection can identify visible glue gaps, inconsistent stitching, obvious defects and some practical functional issues. It cannot prove long-term bonding durability, slip resistance, chemical composition or regulatory compliance without relevant independent laboratory evidence.

Scope considerations

A practical shoe inspection checklist

Define relevant product sizes, tolerances, pair handling and the agreed inspection and sampling method before a factory visit.

Left-right pair matching

Check corresponding size, style, colour, finish, heel height and visible shape for selected pairs. Compare both shoes together rather than isolated single units.

Size run and physical measurements

Compare shoe and insole identifiers, agreed length or other measurable points and size labels against the buyer's defined size system and specification.

Upper workmanship

Look for misaligned stitches, loose threads, visible tears, glue stains, uneven panels, surface scratches, creasing and mismatched finishes against the approved sample.

Outsole and visible bonding

Observe visible gaps between upper and sole, excess adhesive, outsole defects, heel finish or misalignment. A visual bond check cannot quantify actual adhesive strength.

Lining, insole and comfort-related assembly

Review accessible insole placement, lining finish, loose components, obvious sharp areas and internal finish without claiming a formal ergonomic or medical assessment.

Hardware and basic operation

Check accessible laces, eyelets, buckles, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, pull tabs and other specified items; perform simple safe operation if agreed.

Branding, markings and labels

Compare supplied size marks, style codes, logos, barcode, product labels, tags and packaging artwork against current buyer documents. Destination-market legal acceptance is a separate question.

Shoe boxes and shipping cartons

Compare pair count, colour-size ratio, tissue, shape protection, correct box identity, inserts, visible carton condition and shipment marks with approved packing requirements.

Examples, not past YiwuQC case claims

Footwear discrepancies worth documenting

Each example depends on observable units and the buyer's actual approved references.

Mismatched left-right pair

Two shoes in a retail box differ in size, material shade, shape, heel height or visible finish.

Sole gap or uneven cementing

Adhesive overflow, an observable upper-to-outsole gap or uneven trimming appears on selected pairs; this observation is not a quantitative bond test.

Stitching and trim defects

Loose or skipped stitches, lining exposure, eyelet inconsistency, zipper problems or missing laces differ from the agreed quality reference.

Size chart and label conflict

The physical item, printed size mark, insole designation or retail box does not match the approved buyer size system.

Incorrect size-colour carton mix

A shipment carton includes mixed styles, wrong pairs per box or a different colour-size assortment than the purchase order.

Material-performance claim not evidenced

A factory describes a sole as non-slip or a material as compliant but cannot provide applicable independent test evidence for the actual shoe design.

Planning sequence

Define a footwear check that covers the full size and pair mix

  1. Share the exact footwear file

Provide model and size references, construction drawings or photos, approved colour and finish, component lists, outsole references and current packing artwork.

  2. Confirm pair availability and factory conditions

Identify finished pairs by colour and size, location, accessible cartons, safe working conditions and any special handling or equipment requirements.

  3. Agree sampling across the size run

Specify selection of full pairs, relevant sizes and colourways, basic measurements, visual defect classifications and safe onsite functions.

  4. Review evidence, not unsupported guarantees

Use observed defects and accessible quantities to decide buyer follow-up; separately address missing variants or requested specialist laboratory tests.

Buyer inputs

Information to prepare

Provide what is available and identify gaps rather than allowing assumptions to become criteria.

  • Factory address, onsite contact and production or packing stage
  • Purchase order with sizes, colours, styles and pair quantities
  • Approved sample or production reference for each construction type
  • Size system, dimensional chart and agreed tolerances
  • Upper, sole, insole, lining and trim requirements
  • Known defects, acceptable finish and functional priorities
  • Shoe-box, pair, insert, labels, barcode and carton specifications
  • Any laboratory standards, report requirements and sample handling consent

Inspection evidence

Evidence that distinguishes shoe quality and laboratory risks

A useful footwear report identifies exactly which pairs, variants and check methods formed the observation.

Inspected pair coverage

Document selected style, sizes, colourways, available quantities and sampling constraints including unavailable variants.

Matching and dimensional checks

Show pair consistency and agreed visible or measured size points compared with the buyer's criteria.

Construction and surface findings

Record upper, lining, outsole and visible adhesive or finish deviations with supporting photos.

Functional and component notes

Describe basic safe fastener, zipper or fitting checks performed and tools or tests that were not feasible.

Labels and packing

Compare size stickers, brand or SKU identification, inner boxes, pair assortment and accessible shipment cartons.

Open issues and next evidence

State whether requested adhesion, slip, flex, chemical or other requirements need separately arranged qualified testing.

Clear boundaries

What this service cannot prove

No shoe inspection is accepted without confirming practical site access, relevant inspector experience, equipment, product type, applicable checks and the visit schedule.

Visible sole and upper checks are not numerical adhesive strength, flex endurance, abrasion or slip-resistance tests and cannot guarantee long-term footwear performance.

Material claims, restricted chemicals, colourfastness and market-specific safety obligations may require qualified independent laboratory testing and importer assessment.

Selected pair sampling cannot prove all sizes, colours, cartons or uninspected units comply with the specification.

The buyer remains responsible for commercial acceptance and any applicable product compliance decisions; a standard inspection is not an official conformity certificate.

Buyer questions

Footwear Inspection in China FAQ

Can a footwear inspection check both shoes in every sampled pair?

A defined inspection can compare both shoes in sampled pairs against buyer criteria. Sampling selection and the actual available size-colour run must be agreed in advance; the result does not cover all produced pairs.

Can the inspector prove that outsoles will not separate?

No. Visible gaps or glue problems can be noted, but measured adhesion strength and durability require an appropriate qualified laboratory method and representative samples.

Can shoe sizes be verified by comparing box labels?

No. Box labels are only one identity check. Where agreed and practical, compare visible shoe markings and selected physical dimensions with the approved size chart.

When should a shoe shipment be inspected?

In-process inspection can highlight construction issues while manufacturing continues. Pre-shipment inspection can assess sampled completed pairs and the full available packing assortment.

Does a standard onsite check include slip-resistance or chemical certification?

No. Slip resistance, material chemistry and other quantified performance tests require separate laboratory work with a suitable scope and recognised methods.

Can YiwuQC inspect shoes outside Wenzhou?

Enquiries for factories across China may be considered based on exact location, inspector availability, construction, timing and agreed scope. The Wenzhou regional page describes local context, not a geographic limitation of this service.
